This is probably one of the most beautiful long routes in Lithuania, which perfectly illustrates the harmony of Lithuanian architectural and natural heritage. The road stretches from Palemonas Hill alongside the longest Lithuanian river Nemunas.
This is a minimum two-day itinerary. It is recommended to travel by car along the route. In 1930, during the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the death of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas, a monument was built in the centre of Veliuona (author Apolinaras Šimkūnas) – a 3 m high figure standing on an almost 2 m high pedestal, leaning on a sword stabbed into the ground
The Nemunas delta is located in western Lithuania and in the Kaliningrad region of Russia, at the entrance of the Nemunas to the Curonian Lagoon.
