Jurbarkas district municipality is situated in the south of Tauragė county, by the Nemunas River, in the lowlands of Karšuva. The territory of the municipality is crossed by Mituva River with tributaries.
In 1930, during the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the death of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas, a monument was built in the centre of Veliuona (author Apolinaras Šimkūnas) – a 3 m high figure standing on an almost 2 m high pedestal, leaning on a sword stabbed into the ground
Raudonė Castle is one of the castles of Panemunė situated on the picturesque right bank of the Nemunas River from Kaunas up to Jurbarkas.
